PERSONAL ORGANIZATION TRICKS THAT WORK FOR ME

ORGANIZATION TIPS FROM THE PROS

People always ask how I am able to STAY organized. My home isn’t always picture perfect, but I can have my entire house “straightened up”, by returning items to their designated area (not stuffed in a closet where nobody can see), in less than 30 minutes. These are the things that I do and work for me, but everyone is different. It is important to find a system that works for your lifestyle and household because everyone is different. Below are some of by greatest organization tips 😉 so read on!

BEDROOM TRICKS

I make my bed every morning. It makes my room look complete and marks the start of my hopefully productive day. I keep a donation bag inside my closet so I can easily toss items in as they are no longer needed, but that someone else can benefit from.

IN THE KITCHEN

I toss junk mail and sort my mail immediately after picking it up from the mailbox. Then, I clean and declutter my kitchen counter-tops at least 1 time a day and definitely before going to bed. It’s great to wake up to a clean kitchen that is often the center of house. Doing so also ensures that miscellaneous items don’t get piled up on the counter-tops.

Don't do for tomorrow what you can do today

I do as much as I can the night before, to ensure the mornings run smoothly. For example, I pack lunches, get my coffee maker ready, and lay out my clothes (and have my son lay out his).

ORGANIZE YOUR DAY!

Be realistic and conservative in you estimates with respect to how much time you have to complete specific tasks. For example, I will set aside 20 minutes of travel time to get to an appointment that is 15 minutes away so that I am not late. Being on time and on schedule makes you’re entire day less frantic. It allows you to keep from tossing your belongings around in order to make it to your appointment on time!

Then, I like to write a to-do list for the next day. There are items that HAVE to be resolved tomorrow, items I would LIKE to resolve tomorrow, and items that can wait. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment to cross items off my list. If I get to my “LIKE” or items that can wait longer, I feel I have been productive. Lastly, use a daily planner. I don’t commit to anything without referring to it.

ORGANIZING FOR YOU

I found an organizational system that works for me and I stick to it. You can easily drown in the many organization tool options available. Find a method that works for you and roll with it. What helps me stay even more organized? I do not procrastinate. I am constantly looking and considering the future. For example… What does the rest of the day look like? Will I have time or the desire to fold laundry later after I have ___? If the answer is not certain, then it gets done now. Lastly, I ALWAYS take a few minutes daily to “maintain” my organized house. When things are out of place, I take a few minutes to put them back where they belong. Hopefully, at least one of these tips will work for you.
